Every World Heavyweight Championship reign, longest to shortest
There have been 10 reigns and 7 different champions since the title was introduced in 2023. Seth Rollins’ first reign is still the benchmark, and it also has the most defenses.
1. Seth Rollins – 316 days, 11 defenses
Seth became the first World Heavyweight Champion by beating AJ Styles in the tournament final at Night of Champions 2023 in Jeddah. He defended the title 11 times, more than any other champion. That included two wins over Finn Balor, two over Shinsuke Nakamura and two over Drew McIntyre, plus defenses against Damian Priest, Bron Breakker, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso and Jinder Mahal. His reign ended at WrestleMania XL, where Drew McIntyre beat him.
2. Gunther – 258 days, 5 defenses
Gunther won the title from Damian Priest at SummerSlam 2024 in Cleveland. He defended it against Randy Orton at Bash in Berlin, Sami Zayn on Raw and Damian Priest at Survivor Series. He then beat Priest and Finn Balor in a triple threat, and Jey Uso, both at Saturday Night's Main Event. Jey Uso got his revenge and ended the reign at WrestleMania 41.
3. Roman Reigns – 181 days and counting, 5 defenses
Roman beat CM Punk at WrestleMania 42 in April. He has since beaten Jacob Fatu twice, at Backlash and in a Tribal Combat match at Clash in Italy, then Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, Penta on Raw and LA Knight at Money in the Bank. He is the only champion on this list who is still adding days.
4. CM Punk (2nd reign) – 169 days, 4 defenses
Punk's second reign started when he beat Jey Uso for the vacant title at Saturday Night's Main Event in November 2025. He retained against Bron Breakker, Finn Balor and AJ Styles (by DQ) on Raw, then beat Finn Balor again at Elimination Chamber. Roman took the title from him at WrestleMania 42.
5. Damian Priest – 118 days, 3 defenses
Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania XL, moments after Drew had beaten Seth Rollins. He defended the title against Jey Uso at Backlash and Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle. He then beat Drew and Seth in a triple threat at Money in the Bank, before losing the title to Gunther at SummerSlam 2024.
6. Seth Rollins (2nd reign) – 79 days, 2 defenses
Seth cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on CM Punk at SummerSlam 2025. He retained against LA Knight by DQ on Raw, then beat CM Punk, Jey Uso and LA Knight in a fatal four-way at Clash in Paris. Seth suffered a shoulder injury at Crown Jewel on October 11 and needed surgery, and the title was vacated on Raw on October 20, 2025.
7. Gunther (2nd reign) – 54 days, 1 defense
Gunther won the title back from Jey Uso on Raw in June 2025. His only defense was against Goldberg at Saturday Night's Main Event. CM Punk beat him at SummerSlam 2025.
8. Jey Uso – 51 days, 2 defenses
Jey beat Gunther at WrestleMania 41 to win his first world title. He kept it after losing to Seth Rollins by DQ on Raw, and he beat Logan Paul at Saturday Night's Main Event. Gunther took the title back on Raw in June 2025.
9. Drew McIntyre – 5 minutes and 46 seconds, 0 defenses
Drew beat Seth Rollins at WrestleMania XL, but Damian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract minutes later and took the title.
10. CM Punk – 5 minutes and 10 seconds, 0 defenses
Punk beat Gunther at SummerSlam 2025, then lost the title to Seth Rollins' Money in the Bank cash-in. This is the shortest reign in the title's history.
