WWE Reportedly Planning Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi for WrestleMania 43

WWE may already know what one of its WrestleMania 43 main events will be. According to a new report, the company is planning Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi to headline one of the two nights in April 2027.
Nothing is official yet, and plans in WWE can change many times between now and April. But if this one holds, it would be one of the biggest moments of Oba Femi's career.
What the report says
The plan was reported by WrestleVotes on Fightful Select, who said Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi is being planned as the main event of one night of WrestleMania 43. Dave Meltzer has also reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the belief is WWE is building toward the match as the main event of the Sunday show, though he stressed that it is not locked in.
The same report mentioned Cody Rhodes vs. CM Punk, but that was only one source's opinion of what should happen, not an actual plan.
When and where is WrestleMania 43?
- Dates: Saturday, April 10, and Sunday, April 11, 2027
- City: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
- Venue: not announced yet
WWE announced in September 2025 that WrestleMania 43 would take place in Saudi Arabia, the first time WrestleMania will be held outside North America. With the current security situation in the region already raising questions about Crown Jewel, that is something to keep an eye on. You can read the latest in our Crown Jewel 2026 status update.
Why Oba Femi makes sense
Few wrestlers have had a better 2026 than Oba Femi. He made his main roster debut as the No. 1 entrant in the Royal Rumble in January, a match that Roman Reigns went on to win, and he has not slowed down since.
- He beat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42 in April, and beat him again at SummerSlam in August.
- He beat Bronson Reed at Money in the Bank on October 10.
- Counting house shows, he has won 39 of his 41 matches in 2026, the best win rate of anyone on the main roster who has wrestled 30 or more matches this year.
- He is already a two-time NXT Champion.

Where Roman Reigns stands
Reigns won the World Heavyweight Championship from CM Punk in the main event of WrestleMania 42 Night 2, and he is still champion today. His next big match is against Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn at Crown Jewel on November 7, and he is also expected to be part of the men's WarGames match at Survivor Series later in November. You can follow his record and title history on Roman Reigns' profile.
Our take
This is the kind of match WrestleMania is built for. Roman Reigns has spent years as the top star in WWE, and Oba Femi looks like the next one. A win over Reigns on the biggest stage would do more for Femi than any title, and it would give Reigns the kind of story he has not had in a long time: the established star trying to hold off someone who might be better than him.
There is a long way to go. The Royal Rumble, the Elimination Chamber and whatever happens with the world titles could all change the picture. But if WWE sticks to this plan, April 2027 could be the night Oba Femi becomes a true main event star.
